I tried everything out there for my canker sore and finally someone recommended vinegar. Yup, straight vinegar.I would put some on a Q tip and rub it onto the canker sore. It shrank down quickly, and dissapeared.

How quickly did it go away? Just curious. Mine usually last atleast 2 weeks and sometimes well over 4 weeks. And nothing seems to speed them up.
It helps to use toothpaste that won't irritate the canker sore. Read about SQUIGLE Enamel Saver Toothpaste on the web. For me, Squigle also prevents canker sores. A few times I just tried other toothpastes, and a mouth ulcer started the next day. When I went right back on Squigle, the ulcer didn't turn into a canker sore.
Anything that stings, is irritating. It's harder for your body to heal the canker sore if you keep irritating it. Unless you want to cauterize it--some people use Debacterol to cauterize canker sores for fast healing.
Contact lens saline solution was comforting to me, not plain salt. It's such a relief not to get them any more.
My dentist recommends an over-the-counter product called Gly-Oxide. All drug stores have it.
It's a special formulation of hydogen peroxide and is a terrific antiseptic oral cleanser, very good for temporary use in speeding up the healing process of canker sores and minor gum inflammation or any other irritations of the mouth or gums.
You squeeze a few drops onto your tongue and swish it around with your own saliva for a couple of minutes. Then spit out.
Muppet - Your suggestion about the vinegar works!! I had one coming out toward the back of my mouth and I tried the vinegar on the Q tip and in 2 days it was gone. AMAZING!! I soaked it in vinegar 4 - 5 times a day. Thought I'd let everyone else know.
I'm glad that the vinegar worked for you also.I tried sooooooooo many things and didn't get any results with any of them.I even bought the Kanka stuff.Vinegar is good for so many things.Glad it helped.
Hey Just browzing. I tried to get rid of mine for nearly four weeks, using salt water, Listerine, Kanka, and finally the vinegar that someone told me about. After three to four weeks of trying everything, it took only three or four days and it was completely gone.Didn't take a full week, I'm sure.Every day it was much smaller and smaller, and by the third or fourth day it was completely gone.
