I've seen 3 dentists in 4 years--mainly due to changing insurance plans. Each one has had something different to say about a painful tooth that hurts when I bite down and is sensitive to cold.

First dentist took X-rays and said there were tiny fracture lines.
Second dentist didn't take X-rays but said you couldn't see fracture lines in an X-Ray but that the first dentist was probably correct. Both agreed that the only way to find out the problem was to start drilling, and it wasn't bothering me enough at that point.
So now it is bothering me a lot, and the 3d dentist didn't see anything on the X-rays but said that she would expect to see something--on or around the tooth if it was a fracture, so she didn't think that was the cause. She thought the pain was caused by upper wisdom teeth.

Now I don't know what to do. Get the wisdom teeth pulled? See an endodontist to rule out nerve damage? Get a 2d (well, at this point 4th!) opinion?

I'm 44 and have otherwise great teeth/gums.
