Hi, I am having a long saga of problems with this molar.....It had been sensitive to sweets for years....Felt a little worse last year and had pain on biting down so I had it crowned (long story, should have been done earlier but I had an incompetant dentist)....My new denitist sees no cracks or abscess on the xrays.....I now have permanent crown on with temp cement since I have been having an on and off ear ache in the ear on that side for over a month.....He adjusted my bite, the crown and put some anesthetic stuff on there because he doesn't see a r.c. problem. Although I have read many times that sometimes you can't see the crack on xrays. I am still having the earache which is more noticible at night. I havae seen 2 ents and my ear is fine......I have made an appt. with a endodontist for a consultation in about 3 1/2 weeks but am thinking of trying to move this up.......I am favoring the other side but do eat on the bad side to see what the pain is like.....I have sensitivity to hot that can linger for minutes(though not every time) and seems to travel through about 3 or 4 teeth to the front teeth which makes it hard to pinpoint but I read the nerve from the bad tooth can make the discomfort travel.....I don't have the intense pain on biting down though I haven't bitten on anything like a rock because I am afraid of doing more damage on that side. I don't have much pain without eating, although I did a few times and very mild. I do have tmj but have never before had ear pain from it.........So, I don't know what this is , do you think the endo will be able to tell? Do these symptoms sound like a root canal case? Are these mysteries common?.......I do not like the idea of a r.c. at all as I am very anxious healthwise and even the though of the epinephrine in the novacaine is frightenning me.....Please give me some advice/answers......Thank You, Maria
