Gum Problem, Wisdom Teeth? - Dental Health Message Board

Hey, Heres my deal:

Im 20, male, and have never had a problem with my wisdom teeth coming in, minus the occasional "teething."

But heres what happened, last saturday I went caving, and had a quick snack inside. Occasionally I Bite my lip / cheek, and this was no exception. I bit down, tasted blood, and eventually shrugged it off.

Now, the gum is swollen on that side over my lower wisdom tooth with pain. Just really sore. As of this morning, it looks like an abcessthat appears to be very tiny over it, aboutthe size of a black head, very tiny.

Is this just due to the inflammation of the gum from biting on it, or is my wisdom tooth in trouble? When I chew on that side just to see if the tooth hurts, there is no pain from the tooth - Its just the overlapping swollen gum for now.

All ive done since is take ibuprofen for the pain, and gargled salt water. Any suggestions? Another to point out is that an extraction would almost be impossible at this time, due to location and time.

Extraction is indicated. Until then, if what you're currently doing is not making it better, antibiotics may be indicated.

i had this plm a few times with my side of my mouth from bruxing at night. at one point i was biting my cheek everytime i chewed for a week and that was hell! but now they re extracted so i shd be ok. if ure having this plm u probably have a small mouth like me and shd get them extracted.
