Hi!

I've been dealing with a problem with a salivary gland stone. My dr. tried to correct the problem with a small oral surgical procedure but I ended up getting an infection and could not eat/open my mouth for several days. I am better, but today noticed when I drank something sweet that I had pretty severe pain around one of my molars that has a crown on it. I figured out that the pain is coming from the margin of the crown and that my gum has receded (probably from lack of brushing for a few days). Anyway, the tooth is not sensitive to hot or cold or touch - just sweets (which I should avoid anyway). I wanted to know if anyone has had success dealing with this temporarily with a sensitive tooth formula toothpaste. Any other suggestions? I am due for more surgery on the gland in two weeks and want to postpone a visit to the dentist until I have healed from that surgery if possible. Also, what options are available for this problem. Will I have to replace the crown? (It's only a couple of years old.) Does it seem reasonable to wait with this for about a month while I deal with other medical issues in my mouth? I won't ignore it forever, but am trying to deal with one issue at a time.
