I have a hole in one of my teeth and it's giving me all kinds of grief. I think the nerve is exposed. Can't eat solid food but even the soft food causes pain. I won't be able to go to a dentist anytime soon. We just moved to LA about a month ago. No dental insurance and pretty much broke after paying rent, etc. Is there a temporary filling or something that one can get without going to the dentist? I'm thinking there's probably no such thing but I'm desperate.
They do sell a temp filling that you can get at Wal-Mart. It doesn't do the best job, but it does help. Another idea you might try that worked great for me when I had my bad teeth was dental wax. It is the stuff that you use with braces. It stays in place much better. I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Also, you can get dental work done for free at the University of Los Angeles. They have a free dental clinic for students, but they are supervised by real dentists. My roommate had a lot of work done there and they did a great job.
You might call and find out about it. You might have to wait a while to get in, but it's free!!
An otc product is Dentemp (sp?). Keep in mind however that things can only get worse if no definitive treatment is completed. In otherwords, what may cost you one dollar today and maintain the tooth could cost you two tomorrow and cost you the tooth also.
Cristie, Dwhee: I looked up Dentemp and it's very inexpensive! Thank you so much. It hurts to smile, but right now I'm so overjoyed I can't help it.
I'm going to call the University of Los Angeles to see if I might be able to get in. Thank you Greeneyes! I would've never thought to ask about the possibility of free dental work. You guys are a Godsend! I have hope now!
