Question Tooth pain little below the gumline by touch

Hello thanks for reading. I thought I had food stuck by the gumline on the lower tooth so I used my nail to remove it. Then I realized, I had pain like dentin was exposed. My gum line around the tooth is little lower than the other one on the other side. But nothing major. So I thought maybe i over did my flossing by having a floss cut ??? I have dental appt for a cleaning in a few days.
I am wondering what the dentist will do ? I DONT have any pain with Hot and cold, chewing. It's only when i press or touch the tooth by the gum line.
Thanks

Re: Tooth pain little below the gumline by touch

Sounds like you may have a bit of recession where the root is exposed. They probably will not do anything about it if it is not severe and if you do not have pronounced sensitivity. If it starts to become cold/hot/air senstive you can use a toothpaste with potassium nitrate ("sensitivity" formula). Other than that I would gently brush in the area with a soft bristled tooth brush to prevent further recession.

Thanks for the reply. I will make sure to use a soft tooth brush. I think that will help. It's feeling better.
Thanks!
