I can't believe I am asking this, but what is the proper brushing technique with a Crest Spinbrush? I think I have been damaging my own gums! I was brushing w/the toothbrush parallel (vertically) to my tooth, with the rotating bristles at the gum/top of tooth. My gums have become sore and my dentist said they're inflammed but isn't concerned it's gingivitis and hasn't referred me to a periodontist. I was just there (at the DDS) a week and a half ago. Should I be holding the brush like a manual one? And should I be angling it up towards the gums?
Also, any recommendations for getting my gums healthier? Like I said, my DDS doesn't seem concerned but I would like to reduce the redness/soreness. Right now I am brushing three times a day with Colgate Total, flossing twice, using a gum stimulator and Listerine twice (morning and night). Gingivitis and gum disease run in my family.

Hi,
I don't know the proper technique for brushing with a Spinbrush but I have heard over brushing can cause problems. Maybe ask your dentist or go in with your toothbrush and see if they can show you physically how to use it properly

No question is a stupid question, we don't know till we ask, you should see some of the questions I ask, lol

Maybe youre doing too much brushing and flossing? I think twice a day and floss once a day is enough, also, dont use too much pressure when youre brushing

Thanks for the replies. One more question - my mouth has been really dry for the past two days. Could this be caused by using Listerine twice a day?

Could be......listerine has alot of alcohol in it.
