my one molar looks like a big cavity it chipped off when i was pregnant with my son. so now i have an appointent to get it pulled but i am not being put out for the procedure. i want to know how long it lasts to get it pulled and will i be in any pain during procedure? my mother molar on other side is same way but doesnt hurt so i am letting it go for now.

I've been awake for teeth pulled and really if you can handle a little pain/discomfort you'll be ok. It's the tugging the dentist does that's kind of uncomfortable. In my opinion it didn't hurt but everyones pain level is different. It is more uncomfortable after then when it's being pulled.

I've had all 4 of my lower molars pulled, plus all 4 wisdom teeth pulled while I was wide awake with no sedation. I never not once felt any pain during any of those extractions. It usually only takes about 2 minutes to get the tooth out...if that. But if there are complications (such as the tooth breaks) it might take a little bit longer, but not much. With all but one extraction I had no pain even after the freezing wore off. One of them I did have pain after the freezing wore off, but that is because I developed "dry socket". Don't worry, it will be a breeze!

I'm sure the other posters are telling you the truth. But if you're worried about it, I'd beg and plead to be put under or at least mildly sedated. I was given etherine to put me slightly out when I had work done on my toe. It's inhaled and puts you in a twilight, but you don't remember a thing.
