Call your dentist, or find a dentist that will take your insurance, and schedule an appointment now, for a date after your insurance has started. There maybe a waiting period before you can get in, depending where you live. Another idea is to just go to a dentist and have it at least looked at, you will probably have to pay for the exam and x-ray. A good guestimate of how much that would cost you is $60 or Less. Find out how much it will cost to fix it, and decide if you want to wait for your insurance or just pay it out of your own pocket. (if the chip is too embarrassing to endure for a month or two) If you decide to wait until after you have insurance to get it fixed....Just see a different dentist, and don't mention it to the insurance company that you already had been seen for this. But as long as no treatment has started then I don't think that there should be any problem anyways, an x-ray and exam are not treatment, but don't expect the insurance company to cover those things that the Dr. did prior to having the insurance. Also I think that is meant for things like if you had started a root canal an crown prior to the effective date of your insurance, they won't pay for the Dr. to finish the treatment or cover the cost of the crown if the effective date happens to fall before you get the crown placed. I hope that makes sense.
