bonding teeth questions? - Dental Health Message Board

I am 16 years old and I have a gap in my front teeth. I am going to get rid of it through a process called bonding. I need to know if their is an age requirement for this treatment?

Bonding is basically a filling material that the dentist uses. What do you mean "age requirement"???

What exactly is the bonding treatment constist of? What does the bonding stuff hold onto, your gums, your teeth or what? I have triangle spaces, or holes between two of my teeth and need to get them filled in but the doc said he doesn't think crowns or vaneers would work for very long before they fell out again.

Bonding is probably not your answer. Bonding is a filling like material that is attached to your tooth. It is attached by acid etching the tooth surface then placing and forming the putty like white material on to the tooth, then curing it/hardning it with a special light. I tried to get a picture on here, but I just didn't know how to do it. It is a really cheap way of doing some esthetic dentistry. In your case I think that you would be better off seeing a dentist that specializes in esthetic or cosmetic dentistry. Look in your yellow pages under dentists and look for ones that do cosmetic dentistry.
