Bad Taste in mouth? - Dental Health Message Board

Sure could use some professional help! For about a year, I have had a bad taste in my mouth. It is only on one side with a swollen spot on the jaw of same side. My doctor said it was a tooth, my dentist xrayed, saw nothing. He finally pulled a tooth that had had 2 root canals and was sore to touch.. Then taste got much better now months later the taste is back bad!! I have also been to an oral surgeon and ENT. They both xrayed, found nothing. My doctor insists its a tooth. Would appreciate advice!!All my doctors are excellent but someone's missing something???

Roddy see your family doctor and have your iron level checked ,if it is high it can cause the taste you are describing.

Roddy,
A bad taste in the mouth sounds innocent, but it can be caused by a majority of more serious issues.. One may be infected sinus's, another could be problems with the stomach, such as dyspepsia. Do you suffer with heartburn, or do you have pain over one side of your face?
Please describe the specific taste if you can, because metalic taste can also be indicaative of a lung problem.
Write back and give more specific details.
I agree it doesn't seem like a tooth, especially one that has been root canaled, it is dead..

Thanks for reply, I had a CT scan on my sinus, it was O.K. I have no pain just this taste coming from top back corner on mouth, can't describe it, but never leaves. I did have acid reflux before tooth was pulled,now I don't. I have no other problems with any teeth? My doctor is now sending me to another ENT. Know anything about infected glands in jaw and face???
