Asprin is effective for relieving swelling. It has to be asprin and not Tylenol. AFTER you call your oral surgeon and make certain that it's OK, you would take it as a theraputic dosage. That would be one dose every six hours until the swelling is reduced.
Just be aware that asprin is a blood thinner. If you are having any bleeding problems, it may make it harder to stop.
One last piece of advice. Until you mouth heals completely, your are subject to getting an infection. Any time you go out in public, you are exposing yourself do different infectious bacteria. It's OK to go out. But, their are certain things to avoid.
1. No kissing. You may like your mate, but you won't like the infection they can give you.
2. Drinking fountains. It's like kissing ten strangers at once. Drink bottled water.
3. Keep your hands away from your face. That's how bacteria get in your mouth.
