I am 36 years old.
I chipped my FRONT tooth as a child.
Shortly thereafter, I had an apico performed on this tooth (1979 or 1980).
15 years later, I had a pretty crown put on this tooth for cosmetic reasons.
This year, this tooth became loose and my gums were swelling (infected?)
My dentist sent me to an endodontic to get a root canal. The root canal was performed through the back of my tooth/crown. The doctor was afraid to pull off the crown (my tooth may come out with the crown, because it was loose).
During the procedure, my tooth moved down and over, so I look awful, and my bite is not right.
I saw a periodontist today to talk about getting an implant. Hmmm, you have quite a bit of bone loss - he told me. I dunno if this is going to work. I need to discuss this with your dentist. How do you feel about a bridge?
So, does anyone have any suggestions?
I really don't want a bridge.
But I am afraid that I may have too much bone loss for an implant?
Ask your periodontist about the possibilty of a bone graft. If you go this route it is a rather slow process and it is fairly expensive but it will look nice once it is done. After you get the bone graft, you have to wait for the graft to take, before they can place the post for the implant. Then once the post of the implant is placed you have to wait approx 6 more months before they place the tooth on the post.
My periodontist mentioned a bone graft.
I understand the implant takes 6-8 months.
Then, if we add the bone graft, that adds another
I have no idea on the cost, I am sure this whole
procedure/procedures will be quite expensive.
Any ideas on how much it will cost?
My dental insurance is not paying for this,
I am going to foot the bill on this myself,
and I am scraping pennies together now to make ends
