My mother needs to have surgery where she has to have some of her hip bone removed and put in her gumline- I can't remember what the surgery is called. However, she's had back problems for 15 years or so and I'm afraid that the pain in her hip from the surgery will cause her to put strain on her back- which will only make her back worse!! I've tried talking her into finding an alternative method, but she won't listen. If anyone has any information on what it would do to her back, any alternative methods to this procedure, or any general comments, I would appreciate them grealty. I want to save my mother of future pain!!! HELP
The only thing that I can suggest, is that you get more opinions from different doctors. That's what I try to do, for serious conditions.
You might want to find out more about it too. For example, would part of the hip bone will grow back? I think it depends on how much bone they remove. I don't know a lot about it, but I would think that the more knowledge that you gather about this, the better.
It's good that you are questioning it and that you are concerned for your Mom. I often will go along with a medical procedure that a doctor suggests, but not until I understand it thoroughly.
