Re: Getting all 4 wisdom tooth taken out in couple of days...

Hi there

I had all 4 taken out when I was about 21 y/old. I had to have mine taken out in hospital under general anaesthetic. They kept me in overnight. Two of them were still under the gum and they had to cut along the bottom of the gum, extract them and then stitch my gum up again.

It took a couple of weeks to get over really. I used to swill my mouth with salty water about 4 times a day ususally after eating or drinking. My diet was mushy stuff, lots of soup ...... lost a bit of weight. The most painfull bit i remember was how my neck muscles ached presumably where they angled my head and pulled and also my tongue. They must have used a clamp with 4 pads on which went over my tongue cos it hurt for a long time after.

good luck
ktee

Re: Getting all 4 wisdom tooth taken out in couple of days...

I had all my teeth pulled, plus I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth that were so imbedded in the bone he had to hammer and chisel them out. Guess what I was awake. It didn't hurt at all just sounded weird. He then placed 8 implants on top adn 6 on the bottom and immediately attached my new temporary teeth. I was rather swollen but would do it again in a heart beat as it wasn't all that bad just made for a long day. I looked like a raccoon later on though. The swelling was nearly gone in a week.

I am finished now with my permanent beautiful implants.

Re: Getting all 4 wisdom tooth taken out in couple of days...

I had all four of my wisdom teeth out at the same time (almost 6 years ago) and the bottom two were impacted. Like another poster mentioned, I was also given laughing gas and an IV. It took about 50-60 minutes because they were having a hard time getting one out. After it was over, he asked me how long I thought the procedure took and I said I think it took 5 minutes and I'd do it again any day (I was really out of it). It really felt like nothing at all! He let me listen to my headphones and when I saw how many songs I actually went through on the cd, it was definitely longer than my guess of 5 minutes. It took probably a week for me to recover and get the stitches taken out....I drank a lot of ensure and ate things that didn't require chewing. I was miserable when it came to that since I was starving. My jaw was slightly swollen since they were having a tough time getting the bottom ones that were impacted.
