I had a similar incident 6 months ago. The dentist was doing a root canal on a molar when something terrible went wrong. The side of my faced swelled up double,he was squeezing my face trying to drain whatever it was and "trying to get the hemmoraging to stop", his assistant was freaking out too. I ended up in the emergency room with an I.V. of antibiotics. The root canal was finished 8 weeks later. During that time and until recently, I had to endure pressure, pain, and a stretching sensation onthat side of my face.It is much better now but not 100%. Complained to him a few times, didn't seem to care so I fired him.I've said it before on this Board, don't ever let a general dentist do any kind of specialized work, let a specialist do it, hope you feel better, I finally did but not completely.

You would have to prove damages, you have documented proof of hospitalization and pain medication, so you might have a claim if for pain and suffering.
