I was just by my new dentist and he said that i will need a consultation for a root canal, because my right side of my jaw is hurting so much and the tooth,it is giving me unbelieveable headaches only on the right side of the head.Does root canal hurt when you have it done? And my Ortho told me to put me on the Lingual braces, behind the teeth for 20-24 months, now my dentist told me it is going to be twice as long.I don't know who to trust? Please someone tell me about the root canal?
Jenna, PLEASE get a second opinion. I am 21 and just found out I have TMJ. I honestly believe one of the culprits was that I had braces when I was very young, (10 years old). I stopped wearing my retainer when my wisdom teeth came in causing my teeth to move and my jaw to shift. If not done properly, dental work and orthodontics can do more bad than good. I don't mean to scare you or anything. If you are having jaw pain you might want to have someone look into TMJ for you and as far as the orthodontics go, see another orthodontist and ask his opinion. Bad or careless dental work can effect your whole body, trust me. Take care.
I agree with above. If you need a root canal, have an endodontist do it, don't let your general dentist talk you into doing it, its a specialized procedure. If there are no complications, it should be no worse than getting prepped for a crown, it just takes longer.
Well i've been there again today for cleaning and the lady was very gentle. But she said i have a lot of bad deposit and have to have 2 more session and she is going to numb my inside of the mouth so i won't be in pain. And i will have to pay $300 for the next deep cleaning. But i do have a dental plan discounts,so that saves me a lot of money. And they have me for July,11th,2002 and i have to wait that long and tomorrow is my Ortho appt.I'm going tomorrow to have an consultation for my rootcanal.I'm kind of scared.Thank s for your help
