can anyone please help me with this?
I brush and use mouthwash twice a day but I noticed that the top of my toungue especially in the centre and near the back seems to be going a yellow colour?
This happens occasionally from time to time. Sometimes it looks normal and sometimes it starts goin yellow, and its not to do with any particualar food im eating.
I went to the dentist cos my breath is very very bad and when i asked him was it my toungue that was the problem he said no my toungue was completely normal. Unfortunately he inspected it when my toungue looked normal.
My breath always seems to be bad even when the yellowish colour isnt there and im flossing brushing and using mouthwash twice a day and after meals.
What Im trying to ask is can anybody tell me what the yellow colour is please, is it bacteria?

I don't mean to give the 'easy' answer to your tongue question, but I think it warrants it in this case. JMO, but I think you need a complete physical by your MD. Perhaps someone else knows better, but I seem to recall that this could be an indicator of a non-dental medical problem. I'm NOT a doctor, so please take what is just my opinion with a grain of salt, ok? If no one else answers you, you might try asking the question on a different Health Board.
I just did a little research and learned that a yellow tongue is a common indicator of halitosis. It is caused by bacteria and nasal mucous. Often people with halitosis have dry mouth a lot and perhaps a bad taste in their mouths of metallic or sour. Folks who tend to get the yellow color have bigger or longer taste buds (that's interesting piece of trivia, I thought). Unfortunately, the treatment that was suggested was to go to their facility for help. But I hope this helped a little anyway.
My tongue was yellow too, then I found out my cholesterol was very high and I was having a problem with my sinus's. I got the Book: "Your bodies many cries for water" It was available from the library but I bought my own. It was written by: F.Batmanghelidj,MD It talks about sinus problem and dry mouth plus lots of other problems, might be worth a check. Diana

I know where the smell is coming from cos when i stick my wrist in my mouth to the back of my toungue then smell my wrist after bout 20 secs believe me it is horrendous!
I have been drinking 8 cups of water for bout 2 months now and my mouth doesnt rlly get dry anyway and my doc said there is no passage from my nose to my toungue at the top of my mouth so Im just wondering if you used a toungue scraper cos thats sumthing i aint tried yet but be very surprised if that were to work, its never as simple as that for me with anything in my life!
