I'm 22 and need to have a some dental work done like having my teeth cleaned for braces and have a rootcanal done.Well i did go to the doc's office and the gal started cleaning my teeth,it started hurting, she had to stop and said i need to have numb so i wouldn't feel anything and i should reschedule. Then i had a consultation with a root canal specialist,he said i do have TMJ and i told him that i get a lot of headaches from the tooth and he said i need a rootcanal.Well ever since then it's ben 2 months i have pain on my right side of the head,my whole jaw hurts.I've moved from La and will need a new doc.Should i fix the root canal as soon as possible and does it hurt? What is the cost of a root canal with out insurance?I would appreciate any comments.
Thanks
Hi Jenna,
I had the same problem as you, one of my molars hurt so bad and made the whole left side of my face hurt...I also have TMJ... I ended up getting the root canal and it didn't hurt one bit. I am a real baby when it comes to dental work, but it was nothing. I dont have insurance and I paid $800 for the root canal, but I still haven't gotten the crown put on. I think the crown is another 500-700. Most dentists offer payment plans though. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
Thank you so much for reading my message and thank you for your answer.yeah i called today and looked around where i can find a dentist that takes the dental discount plan i have and i also have a care credit card which is you can use it for the procedures at the dentist's office and then pay the credit company in rates.Well i need to have the tooth fixed,it is driving me nuts,it hurts so bad.I just hope the doc will not mess up anything and you said you only had it done once? When are you having the crown put in?
Hey, believe me I feel your pain! Tooth pain is the absolute worst. Yes I've only had the 1 root canal done, if I remember right I had to go in for 3 or 4 sessions, each lasting about 30 minutes. Next week I'm going in for 7 extractions plus sedation for a total of $1000, so I'm gonna hold off on the crown as long as possible..The dentist told me the temporary filling will last about a year, so I'm probably waiting a couple more months for the crown. Hope ya find a good dentist soon and get that taken care of...let me know how it goes!
