Post toungue bumps??

I can see these bumps bout 1-2 cm wide on the back of my toungue, they are very hard to see cos I have to stick my toungue out as far as possible to just see a bit of them. So when my toungue is at rest in normal position they must be right near the back of my throat. They are same colour as my toungue but im having such bad breath problems and been to see doctor and dentist and they dont understand why cos they say everything looks ok. My oral hygenie is excellent along with what I eat so cud these bumps be the problem, they dont hurt at all.

Ill also say that at the back of my toungue it really does smell bad even after a good oral clean and the smell is worst through my nose.

Please anyone tell me what these cud be cos i need to know if these are normal or if they might be cancerous?

Dear Mattiscool,
What you are seeing are actually taste buds. They are called Circum Vallate and if you look closely they are probably arranged in a "V" shape. You have four different types of tastebuds and yes these are strange looking. There are three things that I can think of that can cause this taste/smell in your mouth. 1: the foods we eat 2: decay, usually bad if it can be smelled and 3:bacteria. Since you say it isn't your diet and the dentist says everything is fine, you should try using a tongue scraper. You can buy them about anywhere these days or ask your dentist if he has one. Also ask if they are familiar with a bad breath regimen solution called Breath RX. Try the tongue scraper, be gentle, don't hurt yourself and see if things improve any. Also brush your tongue after you brush your teeth if you don't already. You may even try Literine to help kill bacteria, they have good flavors these days. The days of nasty yellow listerine are gone, Scope and those types DO NOT kill bacteria. Hope this helps, Lola

Believe me Ive tried everything including tongue scraper, floss, listerine and other good mouthwashes but nothing!
What do I do??????
I cant talk close to anyone its not just a bad situation im in its horrible cos knoone seems to know wot it is and im the only one who has this, I rlly cant live like this you dont know how much despair im in!
I cant go out meet people cos of this and therefore it stops me socialising meeting any girls whatsoever and im at an absolute all out low, my words on this page cant explain how awful i feel cos of all this its just makes my life a complete and utter misery!!!
I have to say the smell mainly comes from my nose and im wondering if i got kidney or liver disease but i dont feel anything wrong in those areas.
Again at the back of my toungue it rlly is awful even after thouroughly cleaning my mouth out!!
Someone please please help me I beg of you, theres got to be a way to stop this its destroying my life and im still only 21!!

I know if I had a problem like that, that did not get cured by common-sense remedies (like mouthwashes etc.), I'd see a doctor. It could be caused by some medical problem. I seem to recall that stress might aggravate the condition as well. It's been a while since I researched this, but I know that there is a variety of reasons that could cause this embarrasing problem.

I would see a medical doctor. I know that somestime sinus drainage causes this but usually you will be the one to notice it the most.

Well I already seen the doctor and after her finally believing me that this is causing me great distress she has refered me to a throat, ear, nose doctor.
Ill have to wait bout 3 months now which is a pain but im suspecting it could possibly sinus drainage although i dont feel any mucus at the back of my throat or in my nose, i breathe easily and everything seems normal except for the smell!

I got this nasty nasty feeling that when i see the doctor theyre not gonna know what it is, I just kind of know thats going to happen cos nothings ever simple with me!
If they cant find out what the smell is then im just gonna flip and im just gonna do bad things cos i really cudnt handle it if i have to live with this smell!!!!!

Anyway ill let u know how i get on, however stupid this sounds please just pray for me to get this problem sorted out cos its not just nothing its a serious problem in my life!

Thanks!

Have you heard of irritated taste buds? If so, do you know what might cause them?
