Anyone have any experience with doxycyclin a antibiotic gel that is directly applied into the periodontal pocket. This situation involves a single tooth #15 that has a rather large periodontal pocket -the tooth is still solid no looseness. Thanks for any responses!!!!!!!
My dermotoligist put me on Doxycycline 100mg (pill form) to treat my acne several months ago.I am still on them. I didn't realize it was used for dental problems. It makes me wonder if it is associated with the problems I'm experiencing now from jaw bone infection after wisdom teeth extraction?? Sorry, that's all I know about Doxycycline. It works great for zits!
Administering a type of antibiotic directly to a deep pocket site is very common and there are many different types of products used. It is basically fighting the bacteria and infection so that hopefully the gum tissue can reattach.
