Also I forgot to ask are there any special treatments to clean my nose thoroughly just incase it may be partly to do with inside my actual nose?

Hi Mattis,
Has a doctor ever confirmed that your nose smell is bad?
'Cause if not, I read in a previous issue of Scientific American that bad breath (I guess nose smell counts) is often (though not always!) imagined; in that case, the only way of treating it would be for you to ignore it. Amazing that there are studies on this, huh?!

Hi Mattis,

Well, I wouldn't give up hope yet!
Maybe try to get a copy of that article through the Scientific American website. They did discuss various medical reasons for bad breath. Have you gone to see an ENT (ear nose and throat specialist)? It could also be a problem with your digestive system... Once you know where the problem is coming from, you can fight it. In the meantime, just have patience; there ARE other people out there with the same problem.

Matti,
Zahnschmerzen is right. It could be a Digestive prob, possibly Sinus Infection, tooth problem(though you take excellent care)or imagined.I know for a fact that Digestive ailments such as Constipation can make breath smell bad.Im referring to the elderly here Matti no fear!I would keep at a doctor til I found out and treated.Best of luck to you...

Hi

I'm just adding a little to what everyone has already told you.

It is very possible that the smell is coming from sinus drainage. This travels down, and can cause an odor in the back of your mouth. You would also smell this in your nose, since all of it is connected

I would suggest having a doctor or ENT as someone mentioned, check out your sinus cavities and how they drain. Maybe you have an infection, or maybe you have really bad allergies of some sort that cause this.

Either way, get it checked out. Refuse to take the opinion of just one doctor, keep going until someone can tell you absolutely what is wrong. (it is possible that nothing is wrong, but it is better to be over zealous sometimes with docs!)

Goodluck to you!!

Cat

Matt, have you ever heard of things called "tonsolliths", what happens to some people is that food particles get caught in the folds of your tonsils and collect there and calcify. Sometimes you can see them, they are little light-coloured formations on your tonsils. I have one on my tonsils right now. And occasionally I will be brushing my teeth or something and one will fall into my mouth from nowhere. Sorry for the graphic detail everybody but you might have these Matt. I hear you can even get them on the back of your tongue. When I swallow then breathe out through my nose I get this awful taste/smell, and that's what it is I think. Perhaps see your dentist or doctor about it.

Re: bad nose smell!!!

I would guess you have some sort of infection in your mouth. A lot of times an infection can't be detected just by taking X-rays. Ive heard of people that get a red/white blood count taken and from that the doctor can determine if there is an infection. Just a thought.
