Hi everyone,

here i'm with my root canal fixed and have the post in 3 weeks ago and had to go back for a crown last week,but i canceled because i was scared to go to get the crown.He said he will not numb the area.The crown will be put on my right side molar tooth.Well because i didn't go,the pain in my tooth,around it,in my jaw and my head has come back once again.I hope i didn't get an infection again.Please tell me what i should do?How long after a root canal retreatment should i wait to get the crown on my tooth?

I just got a crown 2 days ago and I'm 7 months pregnant. I was scared to death and I waited 1.5 months so I could see my own dentist who was a 3 hour drive instead of a dentist closer to home. I was so upset of even thinking of seeing someone other than my own dentist and I waited pain and all not knowing that waiting could have caused me to actually lose the whole tooth. I received a special novacaine that is not as powerful due to the pregnancy. I experience pain but it was definitely better getting it fixed then dealing with the constant jaw pain.
Why isnt your dentist giving you some type of pain relief? I suggest you not wait any longer as waiting will cause you further discomfort and potentially more problems down the road. Good Luck.

Hi there,

I wouldn't wait very long after a Root Canal, and esp. after a re-treat to get a crown. The risk of reinfection goes up the longer you wait. HOWEVER, you are still in a lot of pain--which you shouldn't be. If your dentist isn't offering pain relief or is giving an explanation that isn't satisfying you, find an Endodontist and go for a consult. They are RCT specialists and will be more likely to be able to pinpoint exactly what is going on.
