Post dark tooth

i have posted a message about this before and found my tooth which i hit on a hard floor is starting to lighten even more now and match my other tooth but when i put a ice cube on it i still cant feel it does this mean its getting better and i just have to wait for the nerve to get better or is the nerve still dead i cant understand though why if the tooth is dead that is getting lighter can any one help i cant afford to see a dentist and dont want to spend money when i dont have to its one of my front teeth and i dont want to loose it though please help me
