My wisdom tooth is hurting and I want to go to a dentist and have it pulled out, but my parents says that the tooth has to stop hurting first or else the dentists won't pull it out. Is this true?? That's the biggest oxymoron I ever heard.
Also, can I use novacaine to have my wisdom tooth pulled out. I rather use novacaine than going under the gas.
The reason why the dentist won't pull your teeth for your sake is probably that you may experience pain during extraction. Not only that, the after extraction healing process may give problems, as wound are open now. If your tooth is painful, you would most probably be given antibiotic if its due to infection. Don't worry, it is no lie. Unless you don't mind neglecting all these issues, you can go for it. But I doubt the dentist would recommend you.
Usually, some people don't get their wisdom teeth pulled out until they are having problems/pain. I didn't have mine out until I felt pain, yes they don't like to pull if there is an infection going on, but they will, then put you on antibiotics. I had my wisdom teeth pulled out one at a time, so novacaine was used. If you're doing more than one or both sides of your mouth, though, they may put you under.
