I'm so scared...Getting Wisdom Teeth out and have a quick question - Dental Health Message Board

Hi all...

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out in four days and I'm so scared! I had my tonsils out a year ago and the pain was unbearable and it took me a month to feel any relief. Will my wisdom teeth be the same??? I hope the pain wont be as bad...I'm so scared though. Could any of your give me some advice?
Also, when you wake up from the anthesthic, are you in immediate pain???

You are going to be fine. I know that's probably of little comfort, but really...you will be. No, you absolutely should not be in pain when you wake up. Even though you'll be asleep, they'll still use local anesthetic as well. Try not to worry. I'm sure they'll send you home with something for pain too. Good Luck.

No, you shouldn't feel a thing when you wake up lol besdies a lil loopy, your mouth might be a lil dried out because they give you something in your IV to dry out your mouth during the proceedure, but that wears off quickly, and I have always gotten a prescription for pain meds, pick it up on the way home and take one as soon as you get home before the novacaine wears off, that way, it'll be more effective, and if you keep up with the reg dosing schedule you should not be in any discomfort, and after the pain meds are gone, by then all that should be left is maybe some minor soreness, wich Aleve or Ibu usually work good for,

i had one wisdom tooth taken out. I wasnt even put under a anthestic. Just lots of novicane. Didnt feel a thing, and it took only a second for my tooth to come out. The part i didnt like was afterwards. The novicane wore off and it hurt a little, but it was as bad as any dull tooth ache. They had me keep a swab of cotton over the wisdom tooth area, but they dont stitch it up (they use to in the past) so its to help the bleeding stop. I stayed off solid food for awhile, afraid that food would end up in the hole that was left. They also put me on vicaden, which helped with the pain, but it wasnt fun to get off of. You'll be fine, its a routine procedure, not fun, but definately not horror-like.

i had all four of mine out last friday the 19th(i belive) and i was scared but everything went fine. in fact today i went and had my stiches removed, and he put this hole pluger thing in there cuz i was it hurt just a lil but nothing much. i go in the moring to have it removed..

and for after the surgery, i was loopy they told me that my legs would feel like speggiti, they weren't they just hurt from working outside the daybefore.

i was not in any pain during the surgery i woke up a cupple of times but i just kinda of looked around and then fell back to sleep. i did feel some sharp pains but the nurse lady person said that it could have been when he was injecting the numbing stuff(not good with med names) and that was it i went home and slept the rest of the day and most of the weekend i was just chilling doing any homework taht i had..

not a bad thing to go throught i am just happy that i got it done and over with so now i won't be in any pain
