Concerned ... any opinions? - Dental Health Message Board

Hey everyone. I;m a 24 year old male. I was homeless for the past year and was unable to take care of my teeth. I also smoked for two years and quit a few months ago. Sometime last year I developed a hard spot in my mouth near my wisdom teeth with a baige coloring. it hasnt changed in shape or size over the last year, however im concerned as to what it could be. being a worrier i assume the worst, such as cancer. However while doing research about oral cancer nothing comes close to matching its physical characteristics or symptoms. as a result of not brushing for a year i developed a thick white coating on my tongue which will not dissappear no matter how much I brush or rinse with listerine. i have an appointment but i'm due to see the doc for two weeks. has anyone ever developed painless baige hard tissue spots like i have described ... im looking to clear my mind i guess. some people have mentioned an oral cyst or ulcer due to the lack of oral hygeine.

Are you going to a dentist? That would be the best idea. Try to get an appointment sooner than 2 weeks, to put your mind at ease. So many problems in the mouth can occur when you don't see a dentist on a regular basis.
