Night Guard - Dental Health Message Board

Should I believe my dentist that I need a night guard? I told my dentist that I have been getting headache, right side jaw pain, and earache lately. Is that true that I am grinding my teeth at night? I told my mom that I have been grinding my teeth and my teeth are going down from the pressure. My mom told me that I shouldn't believe this dentist. I don't know what I believe. Does anybody use night guard and does it really help my head, ear, and jaw pains?

i would agree with your dentist, if you let it go on more, your gonna have my problem, minor loose teeth, its not fun, i gotta have a splint installed for a little while to make my teeth strong. I clinch my teeth and grind at night, so about 9 of my teeth were loosened from it and you can actually wiggle them. Its not fun, its in your best interest to do this.

I would absolutley believe him. I got a nightguard and it really helped with my jaw pain and headaches. I still suffer from them but it was much worse before I stated wearing it. I notice a huge difference when I forget to wear it. Some people clench their teeth at night and don't grind. It will also hold your jaw in proper position if TMJ is pushing it out of alignment. I have been getting some headache today. I will give it a try when I get this night guard. I really don't want to loose any teeth and have more surgery. My dentist said that I am getting headache, ear pain, and jaw pains, and my teeth are going down. He thinks I should get one to void these problems. So, I will try it to see if it works.
