for as long as i can remember no matter how often i floss the gunck between my teeth smells real bad!!! almost like fecal matter sorry for tmi but it does. even after a thorough dental exam/cleaning and no cavities i can literally go home floss and the floss thread still smells does anyone know why?and is this common?
Have you had a deep cleaning or scaling done? Have they taken xrays to check deep down for plac and tarter? Also try a water pick with cleaning wash in it. The smell is infection. Talk and tell your cleaning person about it.
Avoid Listerine and scope. The high alcohol content drys the mouth and will make the plaque even more sticky.
Food debris and coffee or smoking may cause the smell also, try getting a tongue scaper and using crest pro health rinse. I would deff have your DDS do a FULL periodontal charting to assess the tissues. Healthy gums do not have a poor odor.
I agree, have an exam. You could have periodontal disease, that needs to be treated. Do you your gums bleed? There is great mouth wash called Closys II. No alcohol. CVS or Walgreens will have it. Do you see a dentist and dental hygienist regularly?
