Is there a way to relieve abscess or exposed root toothaches?

If so please tell me.

Not going to the dentist until Wednesday.

Re: Is there a way to relieve abscess or exposed root toothaches?

I once suffered from absesses recurring due to wisdom teeth coming in - it got so bad I burst them myself as I was literally crying in pain.
To do this I scrubbed up with hibiscrub (what they use in hospitals to sterilise hands), used sterile dressings from the chemist, wrapped it around my forefinger knuckle, and very gently applied pressure...until I felt relief and the throbbing went away. I then rinsed with cooled boiled salt water.
I would only recommend this if:

you are certain it is an absess
you follow all the instructions precisely to keep everything sterile
you cannot get to a denist

- why do you need to wait till Wednesday, will they not see you as emergency?
I dont like recommending this to anyone but in a case where you cannot take any more pain...my dentist said I did everything very well actually! If you dont get relief with just a little pressure dont force it as if your absess is not on the outside you could burst it inside and make things worse.
I am not medically trained. This is only an emergency measure, no doubt I will get shot down in flames for giving you this information but you seem desperate.

Hope you're ok

I don't think you should get shot down in flames, princessfi--i've had such bad abcesses, I would have welcomed your advice. But MHossa, surely you can get into the dentist (or whoever covers in their absence) if you explain your situation. My old dentist saw me at 7 p.m. one Sat. night (& charged accordingly). Of course, not all dentists are created equally.
