Question antibiotics for infectoin from wisdom teeth

I think i have an infection from my wisdom teeth coming in. Some symptoms are swollen gums, it hurts to swallow, spit, & chew on that side if food touches the gums. I tried going to the dentist, but they couldnt see me for like a week. i insisted they do something, so they called in an antibiotic for me.
They didnt even ask any of the symptoms or anything, so how would they know what to give me??? if anyone has had this what did you take?
i know it wont hurt me, but i really want something that helps!!
