Hi everyone, i am having all 4 wisdom teeth cut out on Friday, they are all impacted..and I'm also having 2 others on the bottom pulled, due to crowding, one is at the front right side, and the other is on the front left side. My question is how am I supposed to eat with all these teeth being removed? I could see if it was just on one side then I could use the other side to chew. Also isn't this a bit much to be doing all at once?
You will be on a liquid and soft foods diet for several days. Soft foods includes applesauce, pudding and ice cream -- maybe even eggs and pasta. I lived on protein drinks for a week following my wisdom teeth extractions.
DO NOT sip anything through a straw. The suction could dislodge the blood clots that will be protecting the surgery sites, which would lead to dry sockets.
Your dentist or oral surgeon should explain all of the do's and don'ts to you. Please ask him or her to give you all the information you need about post-surgery eating and drinking.
I had 15 teeth extracted and ate things like eggs, soup, anything soft for 2 days, I was eating steak a week later.Any thing can be cut up enough to swallow without having to be chewed.Good luck with the procedure.
I had all my 4 wisdom (2 impacted) teeth extracted 11 days ago. For the first 7 days I ate cream soups, yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes, soft pastas, scrambled eggs & protein shakes. Just yesterday I started eating different foods and today I went to see my Surgeon for my follow up and she said I can eat anything now. It's also very important that the 1st couple of days you don't drink out of a straw, spit or even talk, as this can dislodge the blood clot that's forming.
one thing that i found i could eat very well after i had my wisdom teeth out was canned peaches. No one had mentioned this food to me, but it was great. it was one of the few things that i found that was filling, but also didn't get stuck down in the holes that are left after wisdom teeth removal. another tip, don't drink the juice that comes with canned peaches, it had extra citus juice that could cause a sore in your mouth, but other than that, they are great!!
I felt the same way when my Surgeon told me that, especially because I have a very active 6 year old son. She suggested I stay quiet because she said that can also lead to dry socket. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since I had my surgery, & I've had no problems with dry socket or infections & I'm healing very well (for being over 30). I honestly feel it's because I followed my Surgeon's instructions.
