Teeth extractions & many teeth are normal to have? Should I replace?

Hi, I have yet another question...I am having 4 wisdom teeth extracted..2 others on the bottom pulled which I don't have a problem with this because I do have too many teeth down there. I have a couple on the top that are decayed and they want to pull also. In a month I am getting braces which I'm sure they can do it to fill in the gaps of the missing teeth on top, but my question many teeth do people normally many are too few? I don't know if I should get the ones replaced that they are pulling, or if I should just let the orthodontists fill the gap with the braces. Any help would be great.
