Question Gray front tooth

I have a gray front tooth right in the front upper teeth. I injured it when I was around 13 and from what I have been told, it is "dead" . Problem is fortunately for me I have natural white teeth (no bleaching) and unfortunately that grey tooth seems to stick out. Are there any treatment possible to whiten it or look normal like the other ones? I was told regular bleaching by the dentist wouldn't help since the grey coloring is internal and not external? what are my options?

Re: Gray front tooth

Yes it is most likely dead, i have the same thing with one of my front teeth. Before you can have any bleaching done you'll need to have the tooth root canaled.....since it is dead there's a good chance that eventually some day down the road the tooth will abcess and need a root canal anyhow. I've been told that it's basically a ticking time bomb in the mouth and that one day it will cause problems, but for me i'm waiting until it does to have it root canaled. As far as i'm concerned the only way you can get it colored would be to have a root canal first and then the endodontist can bleach the tooth from the inside...
