Root Canal Retreatment..tooth hurting again
I have a question. I had a root canal about a year ago on tooth number 30 (lower right hand side molar). Everything was fine until I started having pain in the tooth again about three months ago, so I went to the endodontist. He said that everything looked good and he didn't understand why I had pain. But he retreated the tooth anyway. After that the tooth felt fine for a couple of months and now it hurts again! Is this common or could it be that my endodontist is to blame? I am going to the dentist again tomorrow because I need referrals to go to my endodontist. I would like to request another endodontist but I don't know if there are any others on my plan. I know that he will probably want to do the apiectomy, I heard that these are not very successful, plus I will have to pay for my crown out of pocket because my insurance only covers one crown per tooth for every five years. Does anyone have any advice or insights for me? Thanks.
