I had an old filling replaced last week, and since then I have developed a sore on the gum behind the tooth (it was my farthest back molar). The gum is swollen and red and my lip is swollen. My jaw is aching, it hurts when I swallow, and it is really uncomfortable. I am going back to the dentist but in the meantime I am worried that it may be infected, and if so could cause more problems. I have been rinsing with saltwater like crazy. Anyone ever experience this or have any idea what the sore is? I am in so much pain, it's horrible!
