Got stitiches out, still questions.

K I got my stitches out and I feel great. The dentist said I healed nicely, he didnt even say the word dry socket or infection so I felt extremely relieved. So is it still possible to get dry sockets? Im nervous because when I got home I brushed my teeth and rinsed(like actually rinsed, water swirled around and everything) Now Im nervous because I still feel I can get a dry socket! Someone please respond.

Re: Got stitiches out, still questions.

It's highly unlikely that a dry socket will form one week after the extraction. Do you or did you smoke?? That's the biggest contributor. Rinsing too soon is also a major factor in dry socket. I really don't think the dentist would have told you everything was healing nicely if it wasn't.

If you have a foul odor, try flossing and see if you can ocate a specific area that that smell comes from, it could be you need to floss there more often!

Re: Got stitiches out, still questions.

Thank you for replying. I dont smoke. Ive been rinsing all week, but gently just moving my head side to side, stuff like that. Today is the first day I (accidentally?) vigorously rinsed.
