Large Cavity

hey im 17/m and from the UK and im wondering if a large cavity ...approx 4mm big width and legth..on one of the front top teeth from the gum line will be able to be fixed by a Filling? Cause im only 17 and i don't want to have a tooth extracted at such a young age. The Large cavity doesn't hurt but it feels sensitive if u drink a really cold drink.
So i'm wondering if u think it is mendable? i'm very worried it isn't mendable and im left with huge gap when i smile lol

Re: Large Cavity

There is no reason why this tooth can't be filled with a tooth colored filling. You do need to get to a dentist immediately though because as you stated, the tooth is bothered by cold, which is a sign that the nerve is becoming affected by the decay. Don't wait!!! waiting will allow the decay to further making it necessary for you to have a root canal, and of course your other option you already don't want.. extraction.

Good luck

Re: Large Cavity

corricatt is totally correct.
The fact your feeling a pain.
Its possible the cavity might be hitting the nerve.
You must get to a dentist as soon as possible.
The longer you wait, the cavity might grow onto the nerve.
Then you would have to get a Root Canal.
If the Root Canal doesn't work, then you would have to get a new tooth.
The number one thing to do is to get an xray.
The xray will tell the dentist everything.
The longer you wait, the cavity will get larger and spread.
Also, get your teeth cleaned once a year.
This is so important for preventing cavities.
Alot of people dont get their teeth cleaned for years.
Getting your teeth cleaned once a year will help your teeth so much.
