Had 2 teeth extracted Wednesday so this is day 4. surgeon told me most people get their dry sockets between days 3-5. I am so afraid to eat more than really soft things. I have one on bottom right and one on bottom left. How do you know when they've healed enough that you nolonger are at risk for dry socket. One has closed up almost completely but the other has a bit of a hole left (not huge) and it has some white over it. The surgeon's office told me that was normal tht it was tissue?????

When can i stop worrying about this dry socket???

if you're going to get dry socket you'll start getting sever pain around 3-5 days after the operation. You won't feel a lot of pain right after the surgery but you'll know if you have dry socket after that fourth day.

The one hole isn't closed completely - it's ony been 5 days -is that normal? the other one looks a little more closed up. They look fine???? just curious how long it takes for the hole to "close up" or does it ??

yeah the hole will close up eventually but the important part of the hole the bottom near the nerve on yours is closed/clotted the gum will fill in on it's own in time... top ones close pretty quick but the bottom teeth are bigger so it takes time to fill in.

I'm so parinoid to eat anything - with the hole exposed i keep thinking food will get in there and the inside (blood clot) will come out. when can i eat normal food?

you said you only got 2 removed so imagine they are only doing one side at a time. if thats the case you can eat normal food now and just chew on the side they haven't done yet. And if you're worried about stuff getting in it you can gargle with salt water after meals, that speeds the healing and helps rinse out food particles.

mine are not wisdom teeth. One is in bottom back right andone is bottom back left so i cannot chew on one side. I just wish i knew if the hole was "healed". I think i'll call my dr. today.
