Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

I have had 2 root canals and then apicoectomy surgery on those 2 because the pulling and throbbing pain keeps going... but the docs say all is good with those teeth and don't know why I'm having such problems..so now I am wondering if my old diagnosis of fibromyalgia is presenting itself with nerve pain and spasms (I don't feel spasm) in my mouth...can this be the explanation????? (It is not TMJ) help

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

I'm sorry your having this problem

I have Fibro but 6months ago I had all but 4 teeth removed and got an upper denture and a lower partial.

Luckily my fibro didn't have that much affect, Ive read many posts on here that are having problems like you with root canals. This is why I myself would never have them done.

Hopefully one of those members will respond to you, I don't think its fibro.

Hope someone is able to help

Hope

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Hope4All, Good morning and how are your uper dentures coming along? Do you have the actual denture or immediates in? I am finally getting both upper and lower dentures on Sept 14th. I am looking forward to having my smile back, but I am going to ber very honest, I am scared to death. My anxiety levels are sky rocketing, and I hope everything turns out okay. Guess I am nervous about things I read on this site about the saliva issue, about the lowers not staying in, so on and so forth. I really hope they look natural and beautiful. My proces started about 2 yrs ago, and the day has finally come.

Have a great day!

Ariom

Hello Ariom!
Are they going to leave a couple of your lower teeth then, to support the denture and keep it from moving around? I don't have dentures (yet), but from what I have read here, it helps a lot to have a couple of teeth for support. Best of luck to you and let us know how you are doing

Hi Ariom,

I have the immediates, in a few weeks I will start the process of doing my permanents. The saliva thing does bother you for awhile, but in time it slows down My bottoms are fine, I have no idea they are in my mouth, but I do have a partial. The uppers are STILL bothering me I have them in all day for almost 6 months and I cannot wait til bedtime to take them out! I really hope my permanent ones don't feel this way.

My anxiety was thru the roof the last week before my surgery. The day of I was a wreck! But the moment I was all numb and they started pulling I wondered why I was so nervouse! It took maybe 10-20 minutes to pull them all and grind down the bone.

I also had ZERO bone splinters, so my dentist was great with making sure it was filed nicely

You will do fine, anxiety is just the fear of not knowing, once they start working on you it will just fade away

Hope

Yes. a while back they did 2 root canals on my bottom canines, they are staying and they are going to shave them down, extract the remaining teeth and deliver the immediate denture all on Sept 14th, and I am not going to lie.....I am scared!! I wish I could be put to sleep, but I am a grown woman, guess I am just going to have to do it!

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Sorry for another message, but if you don't mind me asking how many teeth did they extract? What is bothering you about your uppers?

Hi Ariom, I think it was 17-18, I had many pulled prior to that over the years.
The uppers are to far back, they will only take a little off the back at a time.
I've needed a soft reline (due to gum shrinkage) for a month and 1/2 BUT I was so sick and tired of going there every week to have it relined that I just deal with it and use adhesive. I figured I was at 5 months I could deal with what I had until my perms were made.

Your the opposite of me, I didnt want to be put under even though I was terrified. I don't like not knowing whats goin on ... and I am a CHICKEN! Actually what took the longest was the shots waiting to take affect and for the area to become numb.

Hope

Ps) You will be fine

I wanted to know if you were able to connect the fibromyalgia with the teeth/gum pain you've experienced? I have had this problem for several years now and am finding it to be very discouraging. Did you have any teeth removed and if so, did that give you some relief?

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Hi Hope I am new the the health message board. I've been searching for answers in regards to my teeth/gum pain in connection with fibromyalgia. Did the tooth extraction bring you any relief from pain? Please reply.

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Hi--Actually, sad to say, the extraction did not relieve the tooth pain...as a matter of fact, now I am having big problems with the temporary bridge that was necessary--they don't know if this is about muscle pain, neuralgia, teeth, gum allergic reaction to the material, etc.......wish someone knew something...been to lots of top dentists and pain specialist (at the dental school who gave me a bite guard that gave me bad headaches.)
Now I am due to have gum surgery to lengthen since the gums have grown down over all these months---and it goes on and on---
How are you? do you have a pain that they are blaming on fibro????How is it related? or why?

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Hi sorry to hear that you are still battling the tooth pain. My tooth pain hasn't been connected to fibro, but I've been wondering about it myself. Was your tooth pain ever connected? How many teeth did you have extracted? Also in what way has fibro affected your muscle throughout your body? Do you have trigger points and chronic muscle aches? Thank you for responding to my original post.

Re: Fibromyalgia and teeth pain????

Hi--I don't know if any of my dental problems are related to fibro...my muscles really are not a big problem..or I'm just used to their sensitivity!--I have lots of trigger pts., and years ago when I was have other problems, one doc put me into the bag of fibro...-I was just wondering if my mouth and gum and nerve problems could be at all related to fibro..I don't know...
