Upper Partial Denture

I need to get an upper partial denture. I've only got 6 teeth on the top(all in the front-no molars), the rest are either gone or need to be pulled.

I have been searching the internet looking for pictures of partials and it is depressing. I don't want metal clasps showing.

How do they secure a partial upper with no back teeth? Does anybody have an upper partial in my situation?

I've been to a couple dentists and they want to do implants and I seriously can't afford that.

Re: Upper Partial Denture

Mollie, there are partial dentures called valplast and others that have acrylic tooth or gum colored clasps that do not show. If you dentist is highly skilled and depending on how high your smile is, the clasps may not show. I think there is also the option of having precision attachments which are crowns with slots cut in them to hold the denture in place.

The most important thing is to get the missing teeth replaced and go on with life.

Re: Upper Partial Denture

I got an acrylic partial last week - still have to have some adjustments on it though. It has metal clasps - one on my eye tooth and the other on the 3rd tooth back on the right - past where the eye tooth would be - because I don't have the left front eye tooth. It is ok - if I can get a few minor adjustments done to it!

What are the pros and cons of Valplast partials and Precision partials? I'm trying to decide between them.

I had a regular upper partial in the past. The one with the clasps and i liked it. I now have the valplast and i don't care for them. God bless

Re: Upper Partial Denture

hi well you will probably have the same kinda one that i had today. i had lost 3 teeth in a row on the one side of my mouth and 2 teeth on the other side but have still got all my other own teeth. I was given a partial denture which is held there by suction from the mouth which is probably what you will have. ive only had for a couple of hours feels like ive got a big blob of bubblygum stuck to the roof of my mouth not dared to try to eat yet if you wanna chat then just ask ok
