Pain behind eyes after wisdom teeth out - Dental Health Message Board

It's been 4 days now since I had my wisdom teeth + 2 more teeth out. Everything has been going good as far as I can tell, until the past 24 hours. I have had a pain behind my eyes, headache-like, and it won't go away. I'm still on meds, Tylenol 3 during the day + antibiotic, and I have a Vicodin prescription as well. I've been taking Tylenol 3 during the day and that does not help. Last night I took a Vicodin and figured with a good night's sleep the eye pain would go away, but it has not. And of course it's now Saturday and the dentist's office is closed. Is this sort of thing common, or should I call the dr.'s emergency home number? I don't have a fever or anything else, and my mouth feels ok (a little stiff and still eating soft foods of course, but I'm following instructions on salt water washes and such).

If they were upper teeth it could be that your sinuses have become inflamed - that could cause pain and pressure behind your eyes. A sinus relief med may help, but since you are taking prescription meds you need to be careful not to mix other meds with them. You could try a saline only (with no decongestant) nasal spray that will moisten the sinuses - that might help.

There were 3 upper teeth pulled and now that you mention sinuses, my ears have felt a slight pressure over the last day or so as well. The eye pain has come and gone all day. I don't want to mix meds so I will stay away from sinus relief meds at the moment. If it's not better by monday I will call the dentist and see what he says.
