Invisalign

So I have a small gap between my "buck" teeth and I was wondering if invisalign can be only worn on the top. My bottom teeth are perfectly fine, it is just the gap on top of my teeth that I'm have problems with. Can invisalign be insured? And if I was only to get a top invisalign would it cost a lot less?

Re: Invisalign

I'm only doing the top, I'm on tray 9 out of 13. I'm not sure about the pricing for top only or for top/bottom since I'm a friend of the Dentist I got a nice deal. I originally wanted bonding done, I have small gaps on each side of my two front teeth Dentist said Invisalign will be permanent bonding would eventually need to be retouched every few years.

When you get your first tray don't regret getting the Invisalign, the pressure and lisping will go away within a week, you will forget that your wearing them and people won't notice unless you tell them.

Re: Invisalign

I have a consultation for invisalign on the 15th. My dentist told me for top and bottom they run about $5000. I have an overlapped front tooth and he said the invisalign would definitely take care of that. Theres only one tooth on the bottom thats crooked and he said I might as well do top and bottom and get a better look. He told me the bottoms wouldn't be on as long as the top since theres less to straighten.

Val.....how bad was the lisp and the pressure. Just curious.

Re: Invisalign

The pressure was really bad for a few days, hurt when they put the Invisalign in, I left feeling what did I get myself into, 2 hours later dinner time-it took 20 minutes to get it out (use a dry tissue to grip one side to loosen it) then I felt a different pressure as if I was hit in the mouth when I got it out, I'm thinking hey this is great I really will loose a few pounds since it felt like a big deal to get them out, no more snacks. Next day at work everyone is going out to lunch but me I couldn't get it out again-after 2 days I got the technique down and their easy to put in and take out that I don't have to give up snacks.

I had to get dots put on 6 of my teeth for the Invisalign to work, tooth colored squares to grip and turn the teeth in the Invisalign that was what made it hard for me getting them on and taking them out in the begining-they were noticeable to me but not to anyone else, they don't hurt and you will forget that they are there (depends on your treatment if you need them) There is also some filing done inbetween your teeth for the teeth to be able to move, sounds worse than it is, it freaked me out until I got home and saw how minimal the space was. The dots and the areas where the filing is done cannot be seen when Invisalign is in.

I schedule my appt for each new Invisalign in the late afternoon, I take an Advil on my way there, where them until dinner put them back in and go to sleep-they have never bothered me while sleeping. Since #3 aligner I haven't felt any pressure when a new aligner gets put in or taken out.

You can only drink cold water with them in anything hot can warp them and drinking anything with color will make them noticeable in your mouth. I was cleaning them with toothpaste but that can be expensive and to me they looked cloudy, I use 1/2 Denture pill cleaner (Brand name or generic) and soak them in water.

The lisp lasted about a week and at work I'm on the phone all day only co-workers noticed because I brought it up.

I noticed a difference in one of the two teeth around #5, I'm on #9 and finish after completing #13.

Re: Invisalign

Thanks for the info. I guess it's good to know first hand what I'm getting myself into. The eating part - taking them out - sounds like a pain in the ***!

How long after your consultation did you actually get the invisaligns? Was it just a matter of days or was it way longer than that????
