How to Strengthen the Enamel? - Dental Health Message Board

For the past few weeks, I have noticed that the back of my teeth have been hurting. I asked my Mother about it and she thinks I have cavities. But I find that nearly impossible because I hardly ever eat sweets and even if I do, I guess you can say I have sort of a 'oral hygiene' fetish. I love my teeth and I love taking care of them, as weird as that sounds.

Anywho, I went online and found that a possibility for my teeth hurting is that I am brushing my teeth improperly. My old technique included me 'sawing' the back of my teeth, literally brushing away the enamel that was covering it.

I haven't been to the dentist in a while with school and work in the way. I've never ever had a cavity in my life. I'm pretty convinced that maybe its just stress grinding my teeth and bad brushing habits.

So, my question is how can I strengthen/gain my enamel back? I really don't want to go to the dentist quite yet with school ending in less than a month with finals and AP tests to worry about. Any suggestions on brushing technique, food intake, and home remedies would be very much appreciated.

My dentist recommended a product called ACT. You rinse with it 1 minute per day. Its like a mouthwash. He said that there are generic brands of this product but the ingredients are not the same. You can find it in the mouthwash aisle.
