Cantilevered bridge - Dental Health Message Board

1.I was wondering if you can only have a cantilevered bridge done if you're having crowns made and then have a tooth attach off of one of those crowns ...or can they attach one to a tooth already there.?

2. If you have a small gap in your teeth and want to get that space filled in, how would they do it, and around what would the cost be for something like that?

3. I have always wondered what the difference between a crown and a veneer is,and which one is better to have?

I would appreciate if anyone could answer any one of these questions for me.

1) a cantilevered bridge crown needs the firm "foundation" of two more crowns right next to it sometimes with posts placed. A singular bridge crown with one cantilevered crown to one side would cause an uneven distribution of force and would fail.
2) you can opt to have bonding sculpted at each side of the two adjoining teeth. Depending on what tooth the range in suburban NY runs $150-$300 per tooth.
3) a. a crown is a replacement medium for the chewing surface and all side walls of a tooth. They are made of ceramic or porcelain material with a gold or mixed metal base (lining). Generally you need a crown for long term functioning of a tooth when trauma, decay or root canal has left a person with little natural tooth left.
b. a veneer also called a laminate is a ceramic or porcelain medium used to give new color and shape to the teeth one sees when they smile. Think of them as "vinyl siding" for the teeth. Its used mostly for vanity or to help cover teeth with little enamel= soft.
