Unhappy Ibuprofen and Vitamin C before Wisdom teeth extraction

Hello everyone. First off, I want to thank EVERYONE who responded to my last post about my upcoming wisdom tooth extraction, I was glad to hear from other people who have been through the experience. It's 48 hours away, and I'm really starting to panic, lol, but I hope I will do alright. It is the anesthesia and after care that I am most worried about. Does anyone know how long I will be laid up for approximately? I forgot to ask that question before?

Ok, my new question is, My oral surgeon told me to take Ibuprofin 200mg every six hours 2 days prior to surgery, and Vitamin c 250 mg 4 times daily 2 days prior to surgery and at least 3 days after. Does anyone know why this might be? I didn't have a chance to ask him myself, and I started taking them both this morning, I just didn't really know WHY I was taking them. any help is appreciated =) Thanks everyone!!

Re: Ibuprofen and Vitamin C before Wisdom teeth extraction

Ibuprofen is an antiinflammatory so your dentist might want you to take that to help with any inflammation that may come with the surgery.. As for the vitamin C I am really not sure why he would tell you to take that. I know vitamic C is good for the immune system. You could probably give your oral surgeon a call to ask yourself. He could give you the best answer.

As for the actual procedure itself I am sure you'll be fine. I have never had it done myself, but I have a feeling I am going to soon. I know a lot of people who have had it and everything came out all right with every single one of them. Don't panic. As I said, I am sure you will be fine.
