Everyone i know who has had a root canal has described it as a very painfull procedure, and usually a few years down the track have problems with the root canal and have to have it redone / never ending problem !.
Personaly imo i would just get it pulled out, then get them to bridge (stick) a porcelain tooth to the side of each tooth either side of the hole / providing its not the very rear molar. If you get a tooth pulled but get it filled (bridged) with a fake tooth asap then you won't run into the problems of your teeth shifting about due to the hole left over. Although its up to you.
