Decaying Incisor - Options?

Hello all. Nice place!

I have a decaying incisor - my dentist put it on "alert" because it was "showing signs of decay", so when it became sensitive to biting today I phoned the dentist.

I have an appointement in 40 hours time, which is not bad!

I have had route canal treatment on my lower left 6, which was fine, and i've had teeth pulled - what am I looking at here?

Sorry if I sound naive, but I really don't know what it means to have a decaying incisor - can I have route canal on this tooth? And long term, how likely is the work likely to last, before I lose the tooth?
