mobile crooked front tooth by 1.5 points and brace fitting

been to perio dept had gum surgery/ ongoing treament which is now stable and has been for some 6 months or more. further review end of jan once brace is fitted.
had previous review by dentist and scale and polish and there has been no further bone loss and teeth/gums are well looked after no bleeding after probing.
have pockets and bone loss in front tooth from previous periodontilitas.
perio dept(specialist hospital London) stated that they dont see why i couldnt have a brace and splint if ortho stated i could after examination. Ortho said i could and tooth wont fall out and its due to be fitted end of jan.
dentist said she wouldnt recommend brace due to bone loss and tooth will fall out and im worried and nervous it will fall out now as braces make teeth mobile in itself.
dont know what to do. do i trust the ortho who is specialist in his field or dentist who is not a specialist in ortho/perio treatment?

pls help cause i desperately want straight teeth so i can smile for the first time ever

louise 37, London.

i have similar problem i have a mobile tooth and driving me insane, also worried incase my teeth fall out as theyre the front bottom teeth.o too have bone loss to one of the teeth thats why a dentist joined it onto another tooth ,but still feels mobile and sore most of time,i too am going to london hospital on tuesday, you have just gave me hope ,as your going through same thing and they said they can splint the tooth to make the tooth stable ,ive heard of this before but previous dentist ive seen not mentioned it or not sure what i mean

well, why dont you see what happens ,once theyve splint your teeth and see how strong they feel ? and once you feel confident then if they say you can wear a brace have it done?

thank you ,have gave me some faith ,in when i go tuesday now as i was fearing the worse and having top be told my teeth havce to come out and wear a denture at bottom ,which i was petrified of having done

i hope it all works out for you and you get your straight teeth you want ,but as long as your teeth feel ok and you can eat with them ,you shouldnt worry they look a bit crooked at least there your own

Re: mobile crooked front tooth by 1.5 points and brace fitting

Hi thanks for your reply. my brace is going on before the splint to straighten the tooth then the splint will be applied.
im worried during the process of having the brace it will fall out
my ortho says it wont as 1 point is not that mobile, i have no pain and can eat although cant bite down on it fully eating hard stuff.
Youl be fine in London , they know what they are doing.

Let me know how u get on and ill mail you again once my brace is on to give u an update

Re: mobile crooked front tooth by 1.5 points and brace fitting

hi louise ,well im sure they know what theyre doing, and i'm sure they wouldnt fit the brace, if it wasnt possible .and just think once its done you have straight teeth.also braces are the fashion these days too

how long will you have to wear the brace before you get your tooth splintered?

let me know how you get on ? i just hope i get the help i needed at london hospital ,only thing is it be my first appointment on tuesday ,and if they are able to help me ,i have to wait until they actrually do something and my nerves are really bad at moment, just hope its not too long

thanks again louise as i can suggest if they dont mention it about splintering the tooth to hold it stable
i let you know how i get on

Re: mobile crooked front tooth by 1.5 points and brace fitting

Hi,
I was treated at Guys for over a year and they done the most incredible job on my gums and practically saved my teeth. the bone loss in my front tooth is alot but they have stabalized it and it may well fall out in the next 5 years but at least i was given 5 years to save for an implant if needed. I clean so much now and keep my teeth spot less with an electric brush gently, then cleaning each pocket with interdental brushes and then cordysol mouth wash. I do this daily and after every meal and my teeth and gums have no further bone loss.
is it guys u are going? or Kings College?
the brace im having is for 9 months and then i get a splint and hopefully all will be well.
